Hello, and thanks for visiting! A couple of months ago a good friend nominated me in one of those Facebook challenges you may have seen doing the rounds - 7 black and white photos over 7 days from your ordinary life, excluding people and pets, posted without explanation. I accepted the challenge, and enjoyed the process so much that I was soon wondering how I could extend it. This blog is my answer. The photos won't always be in black and white - I've long understood how important colour is to me - but I plan to adhere to the other rules of the challenge for a full 365 days and, in doing so, tell the story of the next year in my life. Knowing how I struggle with discipline, especially self-discipline, I imagine this process will throw up quite a few challenges for me but hopefully that will all be part of the growing and learning process. There will be little or no explanation posted, though I'll be happy to chat in the comments, and I hope you find something here to enjoy.

  1. I didn't realise it was so long since I visited your blog. I love your black & white photo "Retro" but the one I really relate to is the lovely warm coloured bedspread and the dog curled up! It looks like a very nice spot

    1. As I wrote that I thought you had a cat and now I read Gary's blog and see it is, indeed, Hobie.
      Sorry 'bout that, old fella!

    2. Hello Kylie, lovely to see you again!

Thank you, I liked "Retro" because that Saturday really took me back in time. We forsook the big supermarkets for Wimborne's family run small businesses, spent the afternoon buying records and the evening playing them and went to bed about 2am..... just like a teenager!

Sunday I was exhausted (because, surprise surprise, I'm actually NOT a teenager, haven't been for decades, and simply can't do the 2am thing anymore!!) so lounged in bed till lunchtime drinking tea, snoozing, chatting with Gary and cuddling the cat. The latter, dear Hobie, at an impressive 21, is ALWAYS up for a lie in!!!

  2. Hi Amanda...Firstly..thankyou for your
comment on my Blog..thankyou, l have replied..! :).

Goodness! Do tell..? I'm afraid if l did that l'd be here for weeks! I even spent
10mths at Motown..Detroit, Michigan. in 1968. So, l've mixed and worked with all
    the old Motown artists!
If l started writing about it, it would
outshine 'War and Peace'. HeHe! Bless! :).

Oh! I can see you were'nt born under the
sign of Virgo, as l am...HeHe! I think your desk needs a tidy up...! :0).

    1. Haha! Cheeky man - that desk is as tidy as it gets, immaculate in fact, by my standards! I even sent the cleaners in before the photo session!! :) Having been rained off my real work, I had the dubious pleasure of an afternoon's paperwork - and even managed to stay awake for some of it .... !

Loved your blog, would love to read more. Has it occurred to you that maybe you COULD write a book? It must have! Well, if you ever do you must let us know - I'd buy it! I was a babe in nappies when you were working Motown, but that didn't stop me spending my adolescence obsessed with Motown and Northern Soul. Priceless!

    1. Hello Terry,

Thanks for visiting, and for the encouragement. Glad you're enjoying the photos. I can get a little carried away with words once I start, so restricting myself to the daily photo seemed like a good way to make sure I actually keep it up. I'm fortunate to live and work in a very beautiful part of the world so the challenge, sometimes, is to pass over the best photo of the day in favour of the one that actually tells the story of the day. Hope to see you again, and will pop over to yours for a visit some time this week.

    1. Hi there! Cool name LL Cool Joe! Thanks for dropping by, and for encouraging words. Glad you're finding the blog interesting. It's my first and, though it's early days, I'm having a blast with it so far. Here's hoping it continues to keep us both entertained!
