Hello, and thanks for visiting! A couple of months ago a good friend nominated me in one of those Facebook challenges you may have seen doing the rounds - 7 black and white photos over 7 days from your ordinary life, excluding people and pets, posted without explanation. I accepted the challenge, and enjoyed the process so much that I was soon wondering how I could extend it. This blog is my answer. The photos won't always be in black and white - I've long understood how important colour is to me - but I plan to adhere to the other rules of the challenge for a full 365 days and, in doing so, tell the story of the next year in my life. Knowing how I struggle with discipline, especially self-discipline, I imagine this process will throw up quite a few challenges for me but hopefully that will all be part of the growing and learning process. There will be little or no explanation posted, though I'll be happy to chat in the comments, and I hope you find something here to enjoy.

  1. "Every day above ground is a good day"..One of my many sayings..!
Sorry to hear about the migraine, l've known many people who have suffered from it..not nice! :(.
I've never experienced it..my problem is at the back of my neck/head..10yrs ago it was found l had Cervical Spondyosis....basically..Arthritis in the neck, not life threatening, but, not nice...so, l went through the pain clinic, injections, treatment, psychologist, neurologist..last September they told me, they could do no more...if l should feel unwell, giddy, faint, fall down etc...dial 999...HeHe! Watch this space...! :).

Looks like you've done some more clearing, looks like you handle some big jobs..rather you than me...l cut the grass, prune the Privet and Virginia Creeper..a few hanging baskets, and that's my lot...last year l bought ALL my plants from Morrisons...I did four hanging baskets, two wicker baskets, and a couple of pots, all for £16...My favourite being hanging Lobelia...Love it...Brilliant! :).

    1. Hey Willie! Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and even more so that they can't offer you anything more. In a similar position myself, albeit with a different condition that was only revealed by accident - ironically when they were looking more closely into the migraines! There's a certain neurologist in Poole, and a neurosurgeon in Southampton, with whom I'm on more familiar terms than I would really like!!

Meanwhile, yes we do do some big jobs. We're right at the end of 'clearing' season, in as much as May sees us move into trimming season where we stay full time until at least the end of June, only getting a July/August respite if the weather turns hot and dry. Trimming season is kinda scary in its relentlessness, but clearing season I like. Jobs like this one, where the previous contractors (and probably several before them) had let banks of shrubs grow out over paths and into driveways and parking spaces. We've only had this property a couple of years, but each Spring we take on another block or two to hard prune and rejuvenate. It's very satisfying work - even though the upping and downing wasn't great for my still fragile head!
